SAFeR STEYNING SCHOOLS POSTER COMPETITION 2007

This summer saw our inaugural poster competition for schools in our area – something we hope to run each year to raise awareness among young people of the work our Responders do.

This year, our judges were art critic Tom O’Neill, SAFeR Steyning Chairman, Martin Leigh-Pollitt and Managing Director of Chimera Communications, Jill Woolf. There were so many excellent and colourful entries that, as ever, it was difficult to choose winners.

Prizes were given to children from St Andrews Primary School, Steyning:

Year 2 winners:

Eve Birch/Brooke Vickery/Jordan Kennett

Runner-up:

Thomas North

Year 3 and above winner:

Keva Townend

Runners-up:

Seonaid Strachan, Sasha Stanley and Millie Cross

We visit the schools in our community from time to time to explain more about what we do and why, and it was interesting to see how the youngsters interpreted this into their artwork. They did the posters in their own time, which shows their commitment to taking part – and the judges were really impressed with this dedication. All the winners said how much they had enjoyed the competition.

We will be using the posters through the year to publicise the work of SAFeR Steyning and a very big THANK YOU to all the children who took part, and to the teachers who helped organise the event.
